Let 2020 be the year your skin shines brighter than the sun!

2019 is almost over, the year has gone by so fast we barely realised. Every year its the same routine, we party hard, eat like a horse and then promise ourselves to start being healthy. New year resolutions are all about eating healthy and exercising, but what about your skin?

This new year, when the clock strikes midnight, let us together make up our minds to take care of our skin with all our heart and soul. In today’s day and age when the stress levels are so high, skin care is very important. You don’t want stress signs showing up on your face at an early age. Did you know that skin is the largest organ of our body? It goes through so much pollution, sun exposure and harsh chemicals everyday. Time to let it breathe and repair itself. Only then will you get to see the natural glow and shine.

  • Ditch the experimenting!
Every new ad on social media claims to give you a skin like Cleopatra in a few weeks. It is definitely tempting to try these products, but know that if you realise a product suits your skin, stick to it, follow your routine and you will notice a difference.

  • Stay Hydrated
Less alcohol and more water should be your New Year's motto. Not only will it have positive effects on your belly but also your skin texture. Alcohol can add to inflammation which in turn changes the hormonal milieu in the skin, which can worsen inflammatory skin conditions, like acne and rosacea.

  • No to fries and yes to cucumbers!
Cucumber has skincare benefits including vitamin C and caffeic acid, which both fight to reduce inflamed or irritated skin, and hydration thanks to its high water content. The peel itself contains silica, which firms up sagging skin. So do not peel your cucumber, instead wash it thoroughly and eat it with the skin.

  • Sunscreen is your best friend!
Do not skip on sunscreen while stepping out in the sun, even if it’s cloudy or raining. Sun rays are harmful and can have adverse effects on our skin. To prevent fine lines, tanning and risk of skin cancer, lather up a good sunscreen as per your skin type i.e. dry/oily or combination and re-apply after every 3 to 4 hours.

  • Remove your make-up before bed.
Removing your makeup before you go to sleep. You don’t want your skin to suffocate under all that make up. Use a good cleanser, wash off all the makeup and follow your nighttime skin routine. Your skin will repair itself from all the chemical build up and thank you the next day!

  • Be consistent!
One thing that all new year's resolutions lack is consistency. Consistency is the key to success. Even if it’s a slow process, it is a steady one. Be consistent and sincere with your skin care routine, moisturize everyday and pamper it without fail. Follow the above steps without fail throughout the year and all your life for the glow that you have always wanted, and you could be the next Cleopatra!
